RRTS Acquires The James Brooks Company

GTS parent company, Roadrunner Transportation Services, announced the acquisition of The James Brooks Company, an intermodal transportation group providing drayage services to the ports of Los Angeles/Long Beach and Oakland.  The addition of The James Brooks Company to the RRTS family of companies enhances the level of services we can provide to our client base.

GTS Parent Company Purchases Bruenger Trucking

Roadrunner Transportation System (RRTS) announced on May 31, the acquisition of Bruenger Trucking Company, a provider of truckload services based in Wichita, KS. 

Mark DiBlasi, president and CEO of Roadrunner, said, "The acquisition of Bruenger broadens our geographic coverage and expands our capacity network.  Bruenger's Midwest presence and East/West traffic will also enable us to more effectively cross-sell our truckload services. In addition, Bruenger brings superior service and safety records to Roadrunner, together with solid, long-term customer relationships."

The addition of Bruenger to the RRTS family enhances the scope of transportation services that GTS can offer its clients.

Estes Express Lines Joins GTS Carrier Base

GTS is proud to announce the expansion of its carrier partner relationship with Estes Express Lines.  The new agreement allows our team to offer additional shipping solutions to clients calling in to our logistics center or securing a quote from our website.

Richmond, VA-based Estes is a full-service freight transportation provider.  Founded in 1931 by W.W. Estes and still owned by the Estes family, it is the largest privately held LTL carrier in North America.

Estes provides freight services to all 48 contiguous states, Hawaii, Alaska, Puerto Rico, the Caribbean, Canada, and Mexico.  They are an approved carrier for the U.S. Department of Defense.  Estes operates more than 200 local terminals across the nation, and their fleet includes straight trucks with lift gates.  In addition to standard LTL freight, they handle hazmat, tradeshow, and protect from freeze.  Estes also offers guaranteed service, referred to as Gold Medal service, which provides guaranteed delivery offerings by 10 AM, 12 PM, and day specific by 5 PM delivery.  

As a steward of the environment, Estes was one of the first trucking companies to join the Environmental Protection Agency's SmartWaySM Transport Partnership. This program is an innovative collaboration between the freight industry and the government to improve energy efficiency, reduce air pollution and greenhouse gas emissions and improve energy security.

GTS Expands Sales Territory with Opening of Chicago Office

GTS is proud to announce the opening of its Chicago sales office.  Strengthening the areas where we prospect will afford GTS a solid foundation to grow.  Kaycie Cercone, who joined GTS earlier this month, will be responsible for the business development of the Midwest terriritory, which includes Minnesota, Illinois, Wisconsin, Iowa, and Missouri.

GTS Parent Company Acquires Morgan Southern, Inc.

Roadrunner Transportation Systems (RRTS), parent company of GTS, recently announced the acquisition of Morgan Southern Inc. to its family of companies.  Morgan Southern is a high quality intermodal drayage carrier with a national presence.  Morgan is equipped with 19 terminals throughout the United States, and serves the majority of the country's significant intermodal markets. This acquisition will bring enhanced service offerings to GTS' client base.

GTS Honored with Weatherhead 100 Award for Ninth Consecutive Year

Weatherhead 100 For the ninth consecutive year, GTS is one of 100 companies honored with the esteemed Weatherhead 100 award, which is compiled and managed by the Council of Smaller Enterprises (COSE). 

GTS President Paul Kithcart and CFO Bud Reitz received the award at the presentation ceremonies held on December 7, 2010, in Cleveland.  Weatherhead 100 has been recognizing companies in Northeast Ohio since 1987.  To qualify, companies must demonstrate steady growth spanning over a five-year period. 

"While winning this award nine years running has been a great period in our history," says Kithcart, "this year we have proven that even with a tough economy and tough obstacles to overcome, we persevered."  Kithcart attributes the success of GTS to the outstanding effort and teamwork of its employees.
